The book I’m currently reading.
“It might seem strange to start a story with an ending. But all endings are also beginnings. We just don’t know it at the time.”
I adore this story, I’ve read it twice.

I expected a new Korra today. No new Korra. Episode 8 of Korra doesn’t air until June 9th. June 9th. June. 9th. JUNE. 9TH
(Totally over-reacting but whatever)
I was extremely disappointed as well!

And that’s why OTP.
I think what I really like here is that in a lesser show, or in reality, qualities like “toughest” and “buffest” wouldn’t be considered compliements for women. Even though they should be more then often I’ve found if a women is considered “tough” or “buff” she’s considered too manly and is therefore considered too “unwomanly”. All of which is ridiculous and only enforcing those awful gender stereotypes and pushing us in boxes.
Women have to walk a fine line between being too manly and too feminine. If a woman is too stereotypically manly (for example showcasing lots of physical strength and ability like Korra which isn’t a ‘masculine trait but w/e) they’re not ‘woman enough,’ making them undesirable. But if they’re too feminine (for example like Asami wears make up, nice clothes, etc) then they’re considered weak and feeble.
So what I like here is that there’s none of those awful gender lines for Bolin when he describes Korra. Everything about her is amazing and wonderful. From her qualities like being funny, smart, and physically pretty, to qualities that wouldn’t normally be considered good qualities for a girl, being tough, strong, and buff. It’s something just really nice to see. Qualities listed that aren’t held down by gender lines.
Korra has both stereotypical masculine and feminine traits, as does Bolin. In the end they aren’t ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’ traits just traits. Just part of their individual personalities and nothing more.
